Make your life complete
The below-knee prosthesis is an important solution for restoring the functions of the leg after amputation. The quality and effectiveness of such a prosthesis depend primarily on the professionalism of the prosthetist, as well as the quality and functional capabilities of the selected foot for the prosthesis.
At our center, we offer a wide selection of feet, allowing us to customize the prosthesis to best meet your individual needs. The prosthetist, guided by their experience and knowledge in biomechanics, considers several key factors when selecting the appropriate foot:
- Level of amputation
- Patient's activity level
- Type of foot
- Weight of the foot
- Material of the foot
- Patient's preferences and goals
This comprehensive approach ensures maximum comfort, functionality, and stability of the prosthesis, as well as guarantees the effectiveness of the prosthetics and ease of adaptation for the patient.
Structure of the Prosthesis
The below-knee prosthesis consists of a custom-made socket, foot adapter, artificial foot (hinged or non-hinged), suspension module, and a socket adapter.
The socket is made of thermoplastic materials (for test sockets) or reinforced (layered) plastics. It may have a silicone liner or a cushioning liner made from gas-filled materials. Below-knee prostheses are designed for individuals with mobility levels 1, 2, 3, and 4, as determined by the prosthetist.
Artificial feet for prostheses are selected depending on the mobility level and weight of the patient, ensuring optimal support and comfort in daily life.
Swimming Prosthesis
The swimming below-knee prosthesis (provided free of charge for up to four years) is waterproof as it is made entirely from layered plastic. It is designed for showering, water procedures, and moving in water when amputation is below the knee. Attachment is achieved via a rubber knee pad that prevents water from entering the socket. For beachgoers, special Kingston holes are included, reducing the buoyancy of the prosthesis in water. Keep in mind that the prosthesis is lighter than your natural leg, so you will need to adapt to swimming with it.
Our specialists are always ready to help you choose the best solution for your comfort and mobility, ensuring high-quality service and support at every stage of the prosthetics process.

How to determine your mobility
The MOBIS® system is based on four levels of activity:
- Patients who move only indoors with the help of additional support devices.
- Patients who move indoors and outdoors (limited) with the help of additional support devices.
- Patients who move freely outdoors and require increased safety.
- Patients who move freely outdoors and require advanced prosthetics.
The MOBIS® system distinguishes four weight categories: up to 75 kg, up to 100 kg, up to 125 kg, and over 125 kg.
